Shortwave

Spent a bit of the evening goofing around with DX-Tuner Dot Com - a place linking several virtual, yet real, shortwave/mediumwave/FM tuners with java controls. Basically, you can be in the US and take the helm of a radio in Stockholm, for example. I listened a bit to Radio Lux from within Norway and to the BBC from Illinois. They have levels of subscriptions. And, a free one that gets you access to about 6 different rigs across the globe.

My Card...

This from a card Amy gave me for my 40+ (no, I'm not telling you) birthday. It's a shot me at Elmo's, a hatch line drawing of hers and a self-snap of Amy in the December (?) snow. I like it a good deal and I like how you can still see the grain of the card in this scan, too.

Forgotten Things

You know - I just remembered... I used to have a silly web cam, too. I think I'll turn it on from time to time just to give the IP packets a necessary workout...

Behind the Times

So, I am 3-4 mos. behind the times. Only last week - when forced on by a fit of mind numbing nostalgia - I decided to look in on JenniCam. Don't bother looking. It's gone. I won't wax poetic or philosophical about the nature of cams in general. It's just gone. Outlasting the bigger of the dot scam crashes. Even NPR jumped the shark back in the day (from an April 1998 edition of Morn. Ed.). It's not of sadness that I opine. It's just a reminder that those who live by the cam will eventually re-boot. Now that Jenni(fer) Ringley describes herself as a "former" geek - surely the end of the 'Net is finally in sight. (or, is that in site?)...
